The project explores how loanwords, particularly internationalisms, behave morphologically across languages. While loanwords are typically adapted to the target language through inflection and word formation, they often retain a distinct lexical status. Despite extensive typological research, a comprehensive data-driven analysis is still lacking. By examining internationalisms in English, Czech, Hungarian, French, and Hindi using semi-automatic methods, this project aims to uncover cross-linguistic patterns of inflection and word-formation, advancing our understanding of how borrowed words integrate into diverse linguistic systems.
