After months of preparation, gathering experts, institutions, public bodies and industries from 5 strategic domains, the ALT-EDIC is ready to start its construction and consolidation phase. Its staff will soon be recruited, and its strategy to co-construct the European Language Technology Ecosystem and co-develop its robust and scalable infrastructure is set. Building upon their skills and experience in implementing several European Language Technology infrastructures (e.g. LDS, META-SHARE, ELRC-SHARE, Clarin.EL, Clarin.SI, Clarin.IT, Clarin VLO, CLARIN-PL, LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ, CLARIN.Biz, European Language Grid, Digital Language Equality Dashboard, etc.) as well as national data spaces and Large Language Models (e.g. INESData, PoVeJMO, Albertina-PT, Meltemi, PLLuM etc.), the ALTEDIC4EU consortium partners are ready to start developing its technical components and services and launch its engagement, communication and dissemination strategies.
While the LLMs4EU project will concentrate the member's efforts towards consolidating an EU-centred ecosystem
and developing state-of-the-art models responding to actual use cases from European Vertical domain stakeholders,
the OpenEuroLLM project will build the pre-trained models for it. The ALT-EDIC4EU project will be dedicated
to the coordination of the European Language Technologies Ecosystem through European LTs and LLMs dynamic
mapping, development of a European infrastructure, consolidation of a European centre for the evaluation of Language
Technologies as well as organisation of training sessions, workshops and events.
