PAR is a functor for the effective root of an independent verbal or nominative clause, which is a parenthesis in the sentence.
PAR functor is assigned either to the node representing the governing verb (predicate) of a parenthetical independent verbal clause or to the node representing the governing noun or adjective (in the nominative) of a parenthetical independent nominative clause. Independent verbal and nominative clauses are defined in Section 4, "Verbal and non-verbal clauses".
