Note: "Kdy" is a relative adverb, so it needs at least one word from the external argument to be placed before it. The characteristics "ordering any" thus means that the relative clause is inserted into the governing clause or follows it.

examples: Spory okolo České lotynky vyvrcholily minulý týden, kdy F. Kozel navrhl z důvodu finančních ztrát Českou lotynku zlikvidovat. [The disputes over Česká lotynka culminated last week, when F. Kozel proposed to liquidate Česká lotynka due to financial losses.] Tato trochu pozdní připomínka má své opodstatnění právě teď, kdy v poklidu odeznělo dvacáté páté výročí brutálního zásahu proti demonstrantům v srpnu 1969. [This somewhat late comment has its justification right now, when the twenty-fifth anniversary of the brutal crackdown on protesters in August 1969 has quietly passed.]

examples: Rozhodující okamžik nastal v 48. minutě, kdy Fabián nikým neatakován prudkou střelou doslova prostřelil brankáře hostů. [The decisive moment came in the 48th minute, when Fabián, unattended by anyone, literally shot through the visitors' goalkeeper by a sharp shot.] K tragické události došlo v sobotu odpoledne, kdy se Tomáš E. snažil zachránit psa, vzápětí ho však strhl proud vody a začal se topit. [The tragic event occurred on Saturday afternoon, when Tomáš E. tried to save the dog, but was immediately torn down by a stream of water and began to drown.]

examples: O jednání se však definitivně rozhodne přímo dnes, kdy budou členové orgánu přítomni v budově Poslanecké sněmovny na jednání svých "mateřských" parlamentních výborů. [However, the meeting will be decided definitively right today, when the members of the body will be present in the building of the Chamber of Deputies at the meetings of their "parent" parliamentary committees.] Ježkovi na návrhu vadí, že přichází teď, kdy se má mluvit o rozpočtu na příští rok. [Ježek is annoyed by the proposal that it is coming now when we want to talk about next year's budget.]

examples: Teď musíme bodovat na Kladně a pak i doma s Plzní, kdy už by měl hrát v obraně Toužimský. [Now we have to score in Kladno and then at home with Pilsen, when Toužimský should already play in defense.] Této problematice je věnována hlava 18 občanského zákoníku v platném znění, kdy právní institut sázky a hry jsou upraveny v paragrafech 845 a 846. [Chapter 18 of the Civil Code, as amended, is devoted to this issue, when the legal institute of betting and gaming is regulated in paragraphs 845 and 846.]

examples: Odlehčení přijde vhod i tehdy, kdy navenek vše probíhá jako po másle. [The advantage that the bank offered to clients is that it is willing to respect their longer notice period even when it has already applied for three months.]

examples: Co - kdy - kde [What - when - where] Kdy bude reálné o vstupu dalších zemí do společenství hovořit? [When will it be realistic to talk about the accession of other countries to the community?] O dalším postupu rozhodne opět zastupitelstvo. Ještě není jasné, kdy se sejde - snad příští týden. [The council will decide on the next step again. It is not yet clear when it will meet - perhaps next week.] Alergie není nemoc, je to stav, kdy člověk reaguje jinak, než je běžné. [Allergy is not a disease, it is a condition when a person reacts differently than usual.]
